Humble attempt to create a portal on namasankeerthanam. Hopefully this would be useful to someone. As the mahatmas say nama mahima is described in the sastras 'sruti smriti purAnEsu rama nama prakeerthitham' and leads one to deliverance. The portal is dedicated to the lotus feet of the mahatmas and bhagavathars of our tradition and intended for spiritual aspirants who would like to have satsanghAnubhAvams and contribute to this mission. Information has been compiled using references from various sources. Images from google were only linked to support information on this site, kindly let me know if you exclusively own these and I will remove them. Radhe Krishna! - Anand Sundaresan

Now there is an explanation about the food served in Puri Temple : (Jagannatha Bunjannau)
Drawn below is a painting by my daughter, Harini to depict the food cooked in Puri Jagannath Temple........Happy Pongal was depicted as well as it was on the eve of Pongal!

2000 years ago Sri  Adi Shankara Bagawath Paadhal initiated 7000kg (7 tons) of rice to be cooked in the temple everyday. The temple were also to cook the rice in 7 mud pots. Everyday 7 new mud pots would be brought in and cooked with. Such is the greatness of the Puri Jagannath Temple. The 7 mud pots would be stacked up vertically one on top after the other. The mud pots will be broken daily after cooking same day and new pots will be used every day. They only use fire wood even now and the really great thing is that the fire wood at the bottom is used to cook all the mud pots from bottom to top.
Everyone in Puri are to accept food given by anybody who offers it to them. Food offered in marriages are none other than the prasaadham from the temple.
